Adobe Photoshop CS5 for Photographers : The Ultimate Workshop

Accessing the images that appear in the book

You can use this section of the website to access most of the images that appear in this book. You can download the photos either as a complete download, or you can choose to download them as individual chapters. The reason I have done this is because the complete download file is just under 600 MB in size. Therefore, because this is quite a large file to download via the Internet you are given the option to either download everything in one go, or download just those chapter images you are interested in accessing.

Once downloaded double-click to decompress the zip file and then choose where on your computer you wish to store the images folders. If you choose to carry out a complete download of all the images you will notice that these are split up into chapter folders. You might want to use Bridge to navigate the folder contents (as shown below). You can use the folder structure to navigate to the images for a specific chapter, or click on the chevron icon circled in Figure 1, to choose 'Show Items from Subfolders' and reveal all the chapter images at once, as shown in Figure 2. If you want to return to the folder only view, click on the prohibit icon circled in Figure 2.

Figure 1 This shows a Bridge folder view of the 'CS6book-images' folder you can download from this website. You can use the Folders panel to navigate to specific chapter folders, but if you click on the button circled above, you can reveal all the subfolder contents within the content area.

Figure 2 This shows a Bridge window view of all the images contained in the 'CS6book-images' folder. Click on the icon circled above to return to a folder only view.

Important note about the image selection
The images provided here are intended for demo usage only and supplied at a low resolution and may not be used for any other purpose than demo usage. Most of the JPEG images are watermarked and all are marked as copyrighted in the IPTC metadata. In the past I have not supplied raw files. However, now that it is possible to resize images when saving as DNG, you will now find there is now a selection of DNG files for you to work with. One thing I should mention here is that when saving files as lossy DNGs it is not always possible to produce a good quality compressed DNG and at a reduced file size. So some photos haven't been included because of quality issues where the images won't work when offered at a reduced file size. Also, not every image is included because not all of them are relevant for demo use. Where photographs show profesional models it has not always been possible to obtain a model release for free inclusion on the website. However, for this latest edition of the book, I have to date shot several specially commissioned model shoots, for which rights were granted to supply low resolution demo images on the website. Also note that a number of the image examples used in the book are also the property of other photographers and therefore not included.
